Zumba for the People!

Many of you have been hearing me rave about lovin' Zumba dancing, and I do! Not only because it combines Latin, African, Mid-Eastern, Hip-hop and even disco dancing, but also because it's the people's dance. It is one of the most egalitarian workouts worldwide and it celebrates diversity, at least that's my experience in San Francisco.

I zumba 4 days a week for FREE, yep for FREE! Being the good Jew that I am, I love free, I also love discount and wholesale, but more importantly, I love Freedom. First things first though, why free you may ask? Because the San Francisco Rec & Park has a program called Zumba in the Parks to encourage us computer-sitting, mobile device-glazed zombies to get out and shake our booty.

But it's not just about free, it's also about accessible; most Zumba is a great bargain, costing between $5-$8/class. That's a lot less than most workout classes. It's also easy to find a class, just go to zumba.com, enter your zip code and a list of nearby classes appear.

But again, most importantly, it's about diversity, from White blonde-haired shiksas to big Black mamas and everything in between, like this short frizzy-haired Yid, we're dancing together whooping it up and having a good ole time. Another great thing is that many times it includes both kids and grandmas, moving their arms and legs to the right and to left as they boogie to The Cupid Shuffle among other fun music.

So what are you waiting for: Step Away from the Computer, Join the Tired Masses, and Celebrate Freedom & Diversity while Dancing. Go to Zumba.com and get out there and shake your tushie! Power to the People, Zumba, Zumba Zumba!

and no, I was not paid to write this, but hey, I am open ;)
